2015: Future of GEM

Exciting, healthy times ahead!

As you know, since the dawn of the 21st century the Global Environmental Management Education Center (GEM) has worked tirelessly at the grassroots towards a sustainable future. Over these past fifteen years, we have been recognized as a pioneering “can-do” solutions-oriented, NGO-like organization for applied research and outreach education services in natural resources and environmental management. Entirely self-supported in attracting over $10 million in external contracts, grants, and donations, we have focused on small, simple, local actions to empower impoverished communities primarily overseas.

Having reached one golden horizon of retirement in July 2015, a silver lining to the dawn of a new day appears forthcoming. It is the anticipated restoration of my health over months ahead and new establishment of GEM beyond UWSP as an independent 501.c.3 non-profit organization.

GEM friends, supporters, partners, collaborators, and readers—thank you for your longstanding, steadfast interest in and support of our mission. This will be the final edition of Carat Juice (GEM Director’s Commentary blog) from GEM at UWSP. As a new GEM rolls out, however, new GEM hashtags and blog will bloom.

Your help is needed more than ever before. Know that we will be reaching out to welcome your advice, support and encouragement. We will be keeping you apprised of exciting new developments with our sustained vision on the move. Together we can envision and create an evergreen future. Better days are ahead indeed. Thank you

Onward,

Victor Phillips
